GorgeousDarling.com Argan Oil Article
Question: “OMG! What is Argan Oil and why do I keep hearing about it”
Answer: Argan oil is by far my all time favorite type of hair product. Not too long ago, I had a bi-polar hair moment. I went from light blonde, to dark brown and back to light blonde again. Going back to blonde was a matter of bleaching my hair then toning it. When you’re talking in terms of color, bleach and developer, this is how it works… Developer lifts the cuticle and colour deposits into the hair shaft under the cuticle. It’s like a Pac Man game, developer eats a space for the colour molecules to fit into. Then after the cuticle smoothes down, the colour is locked in. Severe damaged is caused when the developer lifts the cuticle up higher then it is meant to go, even if there’s no where higher for the cuticle to lift to.
The Stylist who had nothing to do jumped in to help the Assistant to my Stylist. This little “helper” refused to listen to what my stylist told her to do to tone the brassy blonde first achieved. She was to use a product with a 10% volume developer on certain parts of the blonde. Instead she used 40% volume developer all over my head. Long story short, my hair was chemically destroyed and was falling apart and out into my hands like wet cotton candy. Almost like it had been singed in a fire, it was literally fried. Since then it’s been a struggle to say the least repairing the chemical damaged caused by this disastrous event.
I’ve used some form of Argan oil to repair my hair every day ever since. The benefits cover pretty much everything you need a product to do. Oil that is extracted from the Moraccan Argan kernal has been used for centuries for their hair and scalp benefits. It gives moisture and shine, protect and conditions hair for use with heated tools, controls frizz and provides antioxidant benefits. It also has amazing repairing benefits for overly processed or otherwise damaged hair.
The latest and greatest product I’ve been using is Casablanca Hair Treatment Elixer by Vinsunto, They’ve combined Argan Oil with Grape Seed oil to provide even more benefits. The Grape Seed Molecule is “10,000 times more powerful then Vitamin E in combating free radicals” and “contains higher levels of calcium, iron and zinc, than the extracts in any other fruit.”
Simply towel dry hair, put a generous amount in your hands then concentrate it on the ends and working your way up to almost the root area. Can be used with or without heat and also can be used on dry hair to either smooth and/or shine OR to freshen up hair on a non-wash day.
